Megan Ceronsky
Executive Director


During the Obama Administration, Megan served as Special Assistant to the President and Associate Counsel to the President, overseeing a portfolio including energy, climate change and environment, lands, and natural resources. Megan first joined the White House as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Energy and Climate Change. Previously, Megan was Director of Regulatory Policy and Senior Attorney with the Domestic Climate and Air program at Environmental Defense Fund and before that practiced energy and environmental law at Van Ness Feldman, LLP.  Megan clerked for the late Honorable Blane Michael on the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Kristin Brainerd
Senior Attorney


Kristin previously managed environmental conservation programs for Resources Legacy Fund and the Water Foundation. Prior to that, she handled energy and natural resource matters for a member of Congress. She began her career with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where her practice focused on federal environmental litigation and regulatory compliance. Kristin earned a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an M.S. from the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California, Berkeley.

Peter Heisler


Peter previously worked on conservation and climate issues as an associate attorney with Earthjustice’s Anchorage, Alaska office. Prior to joining that organization, he clerked for the Honorable Monica M. Márquez of the Colorado Supreme Court and served as a legal fellow with Environmental Defense Fund’s Climate & Air Program in Washington, D.C. Peter earned a J.D. from Yale Law School.


Mike Lane


Mike previously practiced law with Ireland, Stapleton, Pryor & Pascoe, PC. Prior to joining that firm, Mike clerked for the Honorable Judge Carlos F. Lucero on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mike earned a J.D. from Yale Law School and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.  


Daniel Alvarez
Junior Attorney


Daniel previously worked for O’Melveny & Myers LLP.  Daniel earned a J.D. from Yale Law School. 


Ian Reed
Chief of Staff   

Ian joined CAELP from Nice Ride Minnesota, where he was the Business Director. Previously, Ian was Director of Operations at Organizing for Action and Associate Director for Finance at the White House. Ian worked with both Obama presidential campaigns, as Budget Manager (2012) and Travel Budget Manager (2008).
